Muse Session [Twin Cities Children's Photographer]

Ok, I'm totally embarassed that I haven't posted anything since MAY. Yikes! My poor neglected blog! Guess I've had summer brain - love these lazy carefree summer days! I haven't totally been slacking though. I had a little creative session not too long ago and I am in love with how they turned out. I love it when I have an idea in my head and it turns out the way (sometimes even better than) I want it to. I've been itching to try out my local downtown area (Lakeville, MN) and it proved to be a great backdrop for this little girl's session. I'd love to use it again.

FRAMES!

I am very excited to announce Framed Prints to my product line. These whimsical fun frames are so fun and come in a variety of colors. Sneak Peek [Twin Cities Baby Photography]

From this weekend...I know the mom's are dying for a quick peek at their very cute kiddos.

 

Can you believe mom wasn't sure her daughter's room would work? I think she even told me the wallpaper was ugly.Ugly - ha!! I want to rent their home out as a natural light studio because they had great light everywhere. Miss [I]'s big brother is a real charmer too. Can't wait to finish editing these because they are so cute!!

And this little one-year old was so very serious to start. Just wasn't scared of me and my camera...just not sure of it all. But good things come to those who wait! We took a snack break but I waited to tear down the backdrop because I wanted to try one more time after she had a little break. So mom and I talked and out of the corner of my eye I see her playing and all smiles. Grab the camera and snap!

Sneak Peek - Playdate Sessions [Twin Cities Child Photography]

I had 6 wonderful little friends come over to play with me this last week for my Playdate Sessions. It was fun!! I know their mommies are dying to see what I got so here's a little sneak peek for them.

Now, these sessions were intended for them AND me to play. So I'm also playing around with these images in Photoshop with some fun techniques - some vintage and some very bold and bright. I don't normally do my sessions all like this but I do like to add one or two with something fun like this.

Miss [L] brought her American dolls and had a little tea party. Thought a very vintage look worked for this shot.

 

Ok, this little heartbreaker might just be a future American Idol. Wow what a charmer!

 

Next up, little Miss Sassy-pants although her mom and to do a little "coaxing" (dancing!) behind me to bring out her spunk. I should have turned the camera around on her!

 

Ok, Miss [R] was not real into me and kind of shy to start. But that's ok because she has these beautiful soulful eyes that a person could get lost in for days. So her quiet demeaner worked wonderfully here. Her look, the backdrop, the vintage effect - love this combo!!

 

Next up, the little pink princess. Oh, Miss [A] you brought some divine dress-up clothes! (did a little cool blur/focus effect and punched the color for those photogs that are reading).

 

And last but not least my man [R] - can't believe he's only 4. I wonder if we are looking at a future NBA star here? I took the color down here because the background is a denim blue and his shirt is pretty bright. I like that but wanted to try something different here - like I said, it was my playdate too!

My life summed up in one photo

You know the old phrase, a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, this one sums up what my life is like right now. It won't always be this way and that's what I love about photographs. They are a silver in time showcasing the moment.

So a little history behind this image...I got home late from a photography seminar and walked into my kitchen. I was soaking in the clean house and quietness of the hour and how my precious children were sound asleep in their beds. [sigh] And then I spotted something amiss. In the middle of my lovely hurricane glass candle holder is Boba Fett.

As parents don't we try everyday to control the clutter of toys and kid paraphanelia? Sometimes we win that battle. Or at least we think so...

So like I said, this sums up my life at this moment. Someday Boba Fett won't be there to guard my nice mommy things. So for now, I smile, sigh and soak it all in.

Sidewalk Chalk [Twin Cities Children's Photographer]

This weekend was a great time for a little sidewalk chalk wasn't it? I love springtime with chalk and bubbles and pinwheels (hint, hint - all great ideas for your next session). And my little friend here was an enthusiastic chalker. It was a little chilly out but he was a trooper and this little sneak peek for his mom is to reassure her I got some great (really great) shots of him.

 

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I sure did. I got a lot of nice gifts from my kiddos. But one that made my heart smile was a little coupon book from my oldest son with various little helpful coupons. The one that made me chuckle the most was "have piece and quite time. 1 use only"  I'd better use it wisely! Perfect!

My mom thinks she doesn't look good in photos (don't we all?!) but I set out to prove her wrong. After a bazillion shots (just kidding mom, it was only a couple, remember? you did blink in a few and had some weird faces, but like a good daughter, I saved those for another time deleted those) I finally got this shot. Perfection, right? Go ahead and leave some blog love at the bottom and tell her how beautiful she is - it would make her Mother's Day (and totally embarass her all at once)!

You look great mom and I'm looking forward to a lovely morning out with you on Sunday.

Storybooks – any age or occasion!

A lot of my previous clients know that I love designing Storybooks for families. Each one is unique and I can almost feel the book coming together in my head when I’m shooting and even more so when I am editing. I like fitting the colors/quotes/style with the subject and blending it all together to tell a story. And I’m honored knowing that the book will become part of someone’s family history. A true keepsake to be handed down.

When I talk about my Storybooks, it can be hard to visualize the possibilities for clients so I’ve put together sample pages of several book styles.

Storybooks work for newborns (adding in maternity images works to tell the story even better),

 

chubby little babies just learning to sit or walk,

toddlers who’s energy and curiosity are endless

all the way up through tweens.

 

Or maybe you want to showcase a special relationship such as brotherhood...

And of course a family album is a wonderful way to tell your story.

Brotherhood

These three knuckleheads are my honorary nephews since their parents are great friends of ours and I've watched them all grow from little babies into these silly grinning boys. When they get together with my 3 boys...well, it's always a whirl of dirty, sticky boyhood glory as they play whatever ball or battle game they've invented. I love these images from our session because they show the epitome of their silly boyness and the bond of brotherhood.

 

 

Vegas Photos

Obviously I'm back from my Feb trip - where DID that month go? I came back from WPPI with lots of good ideas but also a monster cold. So I've been slow to implement anything. Isn't that the way it goes?! But I have to say I'm so very happy it's March and spring is around the corner! My favorite time of the year!

Here's a few fun shots I took while in Vegas. This one sort of looks like a fake movie scene, huh? I like the NYNY hotel. We didn't stay there but I sure would next time.

 

The fake Lady Liberty with some texture... I like this. Makes me feel very patriotic.

 

And a few from the Bellagio. That hotel is simply amazing.

 

 

Can't decide if I like this vintage feel orchids - had to try something different.

 

 

Someday I'd like to see the real thing. But this was pretty cool too. I like this bw conversion on these next two.

 

 

And last but not least, my DH. He wasn't fond of me taking his photo but I really like this one of him. I'm a lucky girl!
