Back by Popular Demand...Princess Portraits PLUS!

I got so many comments last year when I did these special edition sessions so I'm bringing back the Princess Portraits!  And this year, since I felt bad leaving out the fellas, I'm adding in Little Heroes!

These are brief sessions (15 min long) with one child ONLY! And reasonably priced at only $39 per session. Print packages start at $99.

Children must be dressed according to the theme. For the ladies, I have a big assortment of pettiskirts and tutus so you are welcome to use mine or bring your own. For the boys, I am working on finding some superhero capes for you to borrow. By all means bring your own. Other ideas for the boys would be police, firefighter, doc, or even dad's clothes to emulate his own personal hero. 

Sessions will be on Saturday, February 18, 2012 starting at 10:00 am. These are by appointment ONLY so call to book your spot. All sessions will be at my natural light studio in Burnsville.

I like to take some time at the end of each year and look through all the sessions I did and every year it makes me smile. I am so grateful to all my clients who let me into their lives for a few moments and allow me to document their families. These are my favorites from the year - and they are not always the same ones that the clients order! But they are the ones that make me smile.

Halloween Costume Portrait Event

Behind the Scenes | Twin Cities Children's Photographer

When I held my Mom & Me sessions a couple of weeks ago, I had my sister-in-law assist me and handed her a camera to do some pullback shots. Check out the video for more!

 

BIG Announcement....STUDIO!!! | Twin Cities Children's Photographer

I am very pleased to announce that starting in April I will have studio space! The best part is it's a beautiful natural light space with a wall of windows and skylights and hardwood floors. The light is so pretty! It’s located in the wonderful River Ridge Building in Burnsville -- easy to get to, easy parking, and other kid friendly businesses and artists are located there. 

This is a great option for newborns or babies, maternity, cold or wet weather, or for clients that want a backdrop set up vs a natural environment set up. I’ll also be planning more Special Edition sessions in the studio as well. My recent Princess Portraits were held there and here’s a sample...

Tough Guy | Twin Cities Children's Photographer

I just finished downloading and sorting all my images from yesterday's Princess Portrait event. And I wasn't going to post any sneak peeks because there are sooooo many to go through and I'm really not supposed to be working today (but who wants to clean and do household chores!).  But you'll understand why I had to post this one when I tell you the story behind it.

First, I know, he's a boy...and even though we tried to get him to wear a pettiskirt to participate in the Princess Portraits...he wasn't having any of that. In fact, he wasn't having anything to do with me and my stupid camera! You see, he's two...and I've already tried to photograph him back in November. But it was incredibly cold out that day and he was sick too so we decided to do the family portrait that day and pick another time to focus just on him. His mom asked if we could add him on to his sister's Princess Portraits which worked great for me.

But you see, we had a problem...he's a tough guy. No way, no how was he going to smile for me, let alone look at me. I take that back, he would give me the stink eye as he growled at me. LOL - makes me laugh still thinking about his stubborn little face.  

So I tried the best that I could and I knew I had a handful of good ones to show his mom but he's so very cute and I really wanted to do a good job for her since this was our second attempt. So I kept trying, not really sure if I had anything really, really great like I wanted.  And eventually we just had to call it over because, well, he's two and when a two-year old is done, he's done. I honestly thought I'd just have to have them come back again another day. Until I started downloading the images today and found this gem. :)

This makes me smile on so many levels...his mom says this is his signature way to sit. And LOOK at that beautiful smiling face! He's so cute! Even when he was growling at me he was cute (it just didn't make for the best portrait!).  I just want to shout a little and say "HA! Gotcha!" Take that tough guy! GRRRRR.....

Tiny Dancer | Eden Prairie Children's Photographer

First I have to say I love, love, LOVE it when clients call and have a bit of an idea and they trust me to take their creative vision and see what we end up with. It always results in the best sessions! This natural light dance studio was suggested by the mom of this little girl. She brought the outfits and we just played in this beautiful space. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy that type of session! The results? See for yourself...I can only post a small sample -- so many good ones it's going to be hard to choose the best!

And wouldn't you have loved to be this little girl...dress up in fun outfits and have the run of the place. Twirl, giggle, leap, run, laugh, dance in the mirrors....so much fun! Brings a smile to my face just going through all these images. :)
