On this very beautiful warm first day of April...I'm working on these images and I feel like they are perfectly suited for this spring day. All these words come to mind...anticipation, warm, family, hopeful, eager, new life. Makes me happy! And this babe is due to arrive soon! That makes me happy too! :)
I love this sepia tone on these particular images. It's funny, the color ones are great because their clothes and the backdrop are all bright blues/aquas/browns so they are beautiful in color but there is something that focuses the emotion when you make them black and white. You can feel the love. ;)
Ok, a couple of the ones in color and just the boys because their mom was changing and we were playing. Love this one! Little angles!

Thsi week I had the honor of photographing the person responsible for my good hair days...she is the owner of Salon Onyx in Lakeville and has been cutting my (and most of my family's!) hair for the past few years. It's funny how by just seeing someone for 45 minutes every 6 weeks you get to know each other. So I was just tickled when she wanted me to photograph her first child. First of course we did her maternity portraits - can you believe this first one is in her bathroom! Best bathroom I've seen in a long time!
Had to try something funky on this one...she's beautiful!
And how CUTE is her little doggie? Oh, and hubby too. ;)

Played around with my sister yesterday and her cute baby bump. This is her third child and they decided not to find out what they are having this time. Bummer!! I wanna know!
This was all in my unfinished basement with some new backdrops I have and my studio lighting set up. It was fun to play and work this way - normally I'm outside chasing toddlers around! So this was fun. Isn't she beautiful?!
I can't wait to meet my new niece or nephew next month...
I have 2 more maternity sessions this month. Which means lots of new babies coming up - yay!!

I love it when I get to visit repeat clients and they are now waiting for their second child. It's like visiting a friend. And it makes me so happy when clients choose to do a maternity session. I know, as women we don't always feel we look our best when we are pregnant but I beg to differ. There truly is a glow about a woman who is growing a life inside her.
A lot of times I like to do a more serious, quiet -- reflective look when I do maternity portraits but this subject has such a great smile that she lights up when she smiles and laughs. So I went with that! I think it works. :) And why wouldn't she be happy, her new baby will be here soon!

First I apologize for the hiatus on my blog - but I was taking a long winter's nap! :) But I'm back at it with a recent maternity session. This young woman is just gorgeous and I really enjoyed working with her this past weekend. She's going to be a wonderful mom and I can't wait to meet her new little girl.
